Yin Yoga
50 hours

Whether you are yearning to teach yin as a class offering, hoping to deepen your personal practice or are a brand new beginner there is something for you in this 50 hour Yin Yoga training.

In yin yoga we offer our students the benefit of time. There is time to explore sensation, time to learn the edges of each posture, time to breathe, notice,  and to make informed decisions about your class plan & your personal practice. This is one reason that yin yoga is so impactful. You are provided time to be with your body, breath and mind. Yin yoga is very similar to a form of meditation.

On a physical level, yin yoga targets and affects the deepest layers of our physical form: the connective tissues; our fascia, ligaments, joints, cartilage, and bones.

In this course you will learn:

  • An introduction to the yin yoga practice  following the foundations laid out originally by Paul Grilley, Sarah Powers & Bernie Clarke

  • The physical benefits of yin as well as the energetic layers;  working with Taoist philosophy, the meridians and chi flow

  • The difference between yin and yang yoga and how to use them in a class

  • The three principles of the yin yoga practice

  • The reality of human variations; individual skeletal structures

  • How to adopt a functional approach to your teaching and/or practice as opposed to an aesthetic approach

  • How to utilize props to properly support the poses of yin yoga

  • To develop mindfulness and hone your ability to attend to what your students and your own body needs
